Guest guest
This weeks Asura is Camara (CHAMARA), aka Fickleness. He goes which ever way the wind blows, and always feels the grass in greener on the other side of the fence. If you talk to our two main presidential candidates they'll both claim the other is fickle. Kind of ironic, isn't it? Do you recognize Camara in your life? Have you felt the goddess thwack him good? What does that feel like? Brian --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). Guest guest
Yes I have seen Fickleness in my life especially in Sadhana. Once upon a time, a few years ago, there was a girl that was wanting a lot of things in her life. She wanted to get good grades at school - so she chanted Saraswati Stotras She wanted to get some money - so she chanted a stotram from Adishankara She wanted to get a good husband - so she underwent some fasting on certain days of the week. Then someone told her that according to her horoscope, Muruga would help - so she prayed to him. Another said , Hanuman is a kind compassionate God and so she found a few verses to dedicated to Hanuman. And then another said ... you mean you arent chanting to Lalita the compassionate mother ? And what about Vishnu - he who is the perfect Purush ? What about the local Gods and your family deities ... The list went on and on ..... and I was biting more than I could chew and I said "ENOUGH ALREADY " What I just said is an experience of my own ficklness (and greed?) in my sadhana... It is not that one shouldnt pray to all the Gods ... it is just that my mind was fickle - thinking to get this from one and that from the other ... without realising that the most beautiful prayer is one in which the devotee is transformed . So since then, I still pray to a lot of Gods and Goddesses - as my time and fancy allows for - and sometimes wish that Saraswati would give me a good singing voice - but I am glad to say that I am following Swamiji's advice of allowing my sadhana to expand "organically". Guest guest
OM NAMAH SIVAYA it strikes me that the key to your post is the word transformed. it seems the devotee is transformed is by realizing that it's not prayer so GOD knows what the devotee want from Him/Her, but prayer so that the devotee knows what GOD wants from Him/Her. prayer for us to do GOD's will, not for GOD to do our will.
