Guest guest
Dear Steve and all, Your comment on "sadhana not being a big to-do list" ... prompted me to share this ... Yesterday I was asking Swamiji, based on a question from a friend when we could chant the Kavach alone in the Seedha Path recitation or whether we "have to" chant the Argala , Kilakam etc . Swamiji stopped me short and said and I paraphrase "There are no 'have-tos'. Its a privilege" So I guess there is no "to-do list" that I have to get done today... I see what my situation allows me for and jump at the chance of doing more. Thanks for the discussion Latha
Guest guest
that's pretty cool lathaji. we all have our own unique circumstances and capacities. it is really very complex. but we can't really understand it all, nor do we have to! here is something interesting ... it is about ramana maharshi. shivapuri baba said he had a great "ability to ignore." ?!?! what does that mean! i think, he could go on with sadhana, ignoring food, common sense, all sort of things. for one person that might be great, for someone else a disaster. sometimes we jump at the chance to do more, sometimes we drag ourselves! life is so complex! we can't judge ourselves! all we can do is move in the direction of the heart! om shiva latha, om shiva! love to you! be at peace! we will fail every day on our journey! let us make haste so we can complete all our failures as quickly as possible! a spiritual goal -- what is it? can we see the paradox, the absurdity even, of a spiritual goal? goals are for the worldly are they not? if "to love god" is a goal ... how do we know when we are there? how do we know? when we can no longer move to the goal, as we are there, like a man at the top of a mountain. strange! to be exhausted and not able to move is in a way the same thing. mind is confounded! all we can do is persist. the goal is peace, the means must support the goal, the way is the goal. the goal is a paradox, more deeply we go into this, we see we do nothing, nothing at all, such joy this is ... om shanti om shanti , "Latha Nanda" <lathananda> wrote: > > Dear Steve and all, > > Your comment on "sadhana not being a big to-do list" ... prompted me > to share this ... > > Yesterday I was asking Swamiji, based on a question from a friend > when we could chant the Kavach alone in the Seedha Path recitation > or whether we "have to" chant the Argala , Kilakam etc . > > Swamiji stopped me short and said and I paraphrase "There are > no 'have-tos'. Guest guest
Dear Latha, I thank you for sharing this. These little nuggets of wisdom are much much more precious than lots and lots of written words. You have the wonderful opportunity to be in proximity to maa and swamiji and I really thank you for sharing.
