I think the reason I avoided considering the question was because of my illness, but what you said about God comprising all qualities, including pain, really struck home. Since I am in pain much of the time, I guess for me, one way to the Compassionate God, would be to go right into the heart of my pain. I am a coward, however, this I will admit. I have never been able to tolerate pain well, much less what I have had to deal with in the past 10 years. But you have shown me a doorway ... I will do my best to walk through it. Guest guest
Here is my sense of this question: If a mother hears her little child cry out for her in the night, she immediately awakens and rushes to her side. If it is only a bad dream she immediately feels better because she knows that in the morning her child's pain will be little more than a dim memory. So she holds her child, comforts her, and stays with her until she drops off into peaceful sleep again. In the same way, the pains of this life are nothing compared to the bliss of direct experience of the reality of God. They simply fall away. Just as human parents know the reality of the waking world will banish the negative experiences of the dreamworld, Divine Mother knows the pain of this life will disappear when Reality is experienced. The belief that we are bound by this life is like sleep, and the pleasure and pain we experience are like dreams, real at the time, but with no substance. We strive to reach the other side where the experiences of life are like the movement of the sun across the sky, always changing, but always brilliant, beautiful, and joy filled.
