Guest guest
Question from Dilip: Can someone from Devi Mandir Please post the detail of Navratri festival activities for this year? What does Maa recommend for daily poojas during these 10 days? What's special 'prayer' or 'stotras' for this year? Thanks and my pranaam to Swamiji and Shree Maa Swamiji's response : Mahalaya is the new moon before the Navaratri begins. It will fall on Oct 13th. We will perform the Cosmic Puja, complete Shraddha and Tarpana, and complete Chandi. The first day of Navaratri is Oct 14th. Every day we will perform the Cosmic Puja, and complete Chandi. We will break the fast on the 8th night, Oct 20th. The ninth day will be Oct 21. Jai Maa!

Guest guest
Actually it is a nine day fast. The fast is broken on the early morning of the 21st. Swamiji does the total fast of nothing, not even water. This is not recommended for anyone who is inexperienced with strict fasting. Fasting is a blessing, not a chore. I did a fast that consisted of water, a little fruit juice and crackers before dawn and after dusk for nine days on a previous Navaratri. I was working full time. I found that I had more energy than usual and much more time for sadhana. It was truly a blessing. Guest guest
you were working full time, that is quite amazing ardis. i often think one needs to be less active during a fast, maybe i am wrong on that. , Ardis Jackson <anandamama@e...> wrote: > Actually it is a nine day fast. Guest guest
Actually, I just remembered. On the Navaratri when I fasted, the fast was not complete until the last day after the chanting of the Sundar Kand which was mid-day I had full energy throughout the fast until toward the end of the Sundar Kand when I began to feel a little weak. Shree Maa told me that it was my faith that made the fast possible. With love and blessings, Ardis
