Guest guest
Namaste to all, Mahalaya is also considered to be the day of dissolution. This is the day when we dissolve all our mental constructs and keep our minds totally focused on the Goddess for the next nine days. Some people do not go outside for the 9 days but remain absorbed in puja, recitation of the scriptures, singing, mantra japa, meditation, etc.In the Chandi when all the Gods and Goddesses called upon the Divine Mother to manifest they were all performing various kinds of sadhana. During these nine days let us all try to do as much sadhana as we can because after Navaratri we will emerge into a new creation. May Divine Mother bless us all with greater capacity, wisdom and pure devotion. , "Latha Nanda" <lathananda> wrote: > > > Dear All, > > Tomorrow - the 13th October is Mahalaya Amavasya - the new moon > before the Autumn Navaratri. > > On this day , traditionally,Sraadh and Tarpan are performed - ie > offerings are made to our departed ancestors . > > To know more about Tarpan , please check out > http://www.shreemaa.org/tarpan.htm > > Jai Maa ! > May our ancestors bless us. > > Latha
Guest guest
I have gone to the link and have printed out the verses. Am I to sound out the names of my recently departed ancestors? If so can I also sound out the names of my ancient ancestors in light of my feeling that even those way back in time impact upon me. , "Latha Nanda" <lathananda> wrote: > > > Dear All, > > Tomorrow - the 13th October is Mahalaya Amavasya - the new moon > before the Autumn Navaratri. > > Latha
Guest guest
Namaste Rudran, I hope Parvati can answer this one. I personally brought my ancestors to my mind - the ones that I knew of and chanted the verses as a way of thanking them.
