Guest guest
I was at my first cousin's wedding in Macon, GA over the weekend. I got to see my sister, bro-in-law and their three children as well as my Mom and Step Dad and a pair of aunt's and uncles. It was a fun, if exhausting, weekend. While getting ready for my cousin's wedding on Saturday I sat down to put on my shoes and was contemplating a post made here some weeks ago that has stuck with me and returned to the fore on many occasions. I don't remember who posted it but it goes something like this: "If you want to make Maa laugh, just point at something and say, 'that's mine.'" My youngest nephew, three year old Steven was in the process of handing my step father my room key (my parents and I shared a two bedroom suite at the hotel). My step father said, "Thank you Steven, that's your uncle Brian's key." And like lightening the parallel between my thought and Steven's action struck me. I smiled at Steven as he handed me the key and said, "Actually Steven, these keys belong to the hotel, we're just borrowing them while we're here." Likewise, these bodies, these feelings, these emotions, actions and objects in consciousness are just on loan to us during our stay here. Any sense of ownership is purely egotistical. Mother often interacts with me in this way. Its wonderful to be so loved. Brian _____________ No banners. No pop-ups. No kidding.
