Guest guest
I have the privilege and honor to lead a Chandi recitation on Sunday mornings at the Mandir. The group that gathers is the same crew , occasionally spiced with a visiting family member. It takes us three hours to finish the book , cover to cover, and by the time we are mid way through the chanting we have the Mandir pretty much to ourselves. Chapter 13 comes around and the time to ask for a boon .... yessssss ! Emboldened by the fact that I am among friends I ask aloud to Maa to bless us all with pure devotion , AND THEN if She is so pleased with us, I rattle off a laundry list of requests ... a) grant Mr A that his stocks will go up in value b) grant that Mr B's kids will come and visit him etc etc Usually this is met with good natured laughter and a certain lightheartedness ... now that we have completed the chapters and all that is left is the home stretch. And it felt so "right" to ask for all these goodies... Until one day Maa came into the temple when we were chanting chapter 13... We stopped for the boon ... and all my cronies were looking to see what I would do. I prayed and asked for Pure Devotion and Maa said "JAI Maa" I chickened out and never asked for all the fun stuff that I normally ask for - I didnt want to appear frivolous before Maa. Then I realized , if I cant ask in front of Maa, I shouldnt be asking it at all ! So I havent asked Her for anything else but devotion from then on ... PURE DEVOTION ! A TASTE OF PURE DEVOTION ! Please bless us with a taste of pure love and devotion this Navaratri ! JAI MAAAA !!!
