Guest guest
Many of us came to meet Shree Maa during her 3 yearly trips around the US (until 2001) and we were all enchanted by her singing ... I remember hearing her sing "Shakoli tumar iccha" followed by Swamiji and everyone singing "Everything is your desire" and I burst into tears .... my first introduction to them. Anyway, my point is ... Music has a special way to get into our hearts . Nothing like a bhajan calling out to the beloved with all our longing and pouring of devotion. Each song has its own flavor like ... a call to baby Krishna like a mother to a child ... a call to the Goddess like a child to the mother but each song says the same thing "My heart beats for you" Can people share any bhajans/songs that have particularly appealed to them ? Some of my favorites ( and I have a LOT of favorites) ... Jaya Jaya Jayadeka - a song dedicated to Lord Shiva sung by Shree Maa. It is so sweet that this is what honey would sound like if you know what I mean. This song is available in the CD "Temple of my Heart" in http://www.shreemaa.org/audio.htm ... Amazing Grace - the words are enough to say the story ... I recently heard this song after a break and was struck by its beauty. The song is called "Jago Tumi Jago" and Parvati lead us in this song last Saturday. The song implores the Goddess to wake up inside us and the tune is so beautiful and so haunting ... I hope the Mandir cuts a CD of this song soon. And I could go on and on ... but I would love to hear from others their favorite songs and the reason (if possible) they like the song ... JAI MAA !!! Guest guest
Hi Latha, Years ago, when I was a young Christian bhakta, I used to sing about Jesus practically non-stop. It was at the core of my personal sadhana, and some of my most precious memories of that time are of my singing to the Lord. For some reason I don't enjoy my singing as I used to. I still sing, on occasion, and it is still inspiring for me, but it does not transport me as it once did. However, singing with Maa and the devotees is another story. I do sorely miss that. When I first saw Maa, Loretta (my wife) and I went together, and she bought the Ramprasad cd. I was very taken by Maa. The man I had loved as my gurudeva had dropped his body recently, and I had not had the opportunity to ever meet him (kind of a long story). I had some very strong feelings of loss over that. When I saw Maa, and this is difficult to explain, it was kind of an intuitive thing, I felt as if I were seeing my gurudeva (the one who left). In her gestures, I saw his, in her face and eyes, his enlightened wisdom and detachment. I was too afraid to go to the retreat, but Loretta and I spent the next three days playing that cd over and over again, twenty-four hours a day, and it felt as though Maa were staying there with us. Ever since then I have had a special place in my heart for Sakali Tomar Iccha. I spent the next year listening to it every day, and when they came that summer it was the first thing Maa sang. It was a very beautiful moment. Guest guest
WONDERFUL!!! , Nirmalananda Saraswati <nirmalananda1008> wrote: > We were with Maa in Chicago in 2001, and Maa was telling a long story about Radha, and how Radha was getting ready to meet Krishna, putting on fine jewelry, and perfumes, etc. The story was so great, and Maa would tell a little bit of it and then break into some bhajan. So everyone in the place (it was a big room, about 200 people) would be up singing and dancing ecstaticly along with Maa's chant! Then, Mother would stop and say "now everyone sit down" and the story would continue for a few more minutes and then more singing and dancing. This went on for a long time, singing and dancing, followed by sitting down and hearing more of the story, followed by getting back up and singing more. It was so much fun it was unbelievable! After that, everyone had a permanant grin on their face! > > Latha Nanda <lathananda> wrote: > > Many of us came to meet Shree Maa during her 3 yearly trips around > the US (until 2001) and we were all enchanted by her singing ... > > I remember hearing her sing "Shakoli tumar iccha" followed by > Swamiji and everyone singing "Everything is your desire" and I burst > into tears .... my first introduction to them. > > Anyway, my point is ...
