Dear Steve ~ this really struck home with me. I think all too often we think of sadhana as thing we DO, but to also think of it as a NOT DOING is wonderful, and there are many NOT DOINGs in my own life that I can think of: NOT taking things other people do or say so personally, NOT giving in the sense of despair I sometimes feel about my ilness; NOT bugging my hubby unnecessarily just because my fragile little ego needs to be propped up; NOT over-reacting; and NOT just doing nothing because I don't feel well (I realize this would turn into a DOING, but when I have done this, it has been good. Right now I am studying for my written drivers' test because my license is due to expire. I have put it off as long as I can because I hate tests! Then I overcompensate ~ I am currently working on memorizing the entire drivers' manual for NM! I am sitting here now, reading this digest ( A NOT DOING of continuing to plague my brain and a DOING because, well, here I am) because I realized I was pushing myself too hard. What size and shape with what kind of lettering are regulatory signs, warning signs, yield signs, etc., etc. Argh. So I am giving myself this brief respite, which is part of my sadhana, to read what others have written, to respond if it seems appropriate, and to be part of the group.
