>From the Cosmic Puja by Swami Satyananda Saraswati, copyright 1991.

"From Truth, from Imperishable Truth, the Performers of Tapasya, or strict

spiritual discipline, have come. Then came forth the night, and then the

sea of objects and relationships, with the multitude of its waves. From the

fluctuations of the waves on the sea, the years came forth. The night

transformed into day, and the universe took birth. The Sun and the Moon

gave forth their lights in accordance with the command of the Creator. And

the earth, the atmosphere and the heavens were His Own."

How wonderful to know that we arise from Imperishable Truth! I always

wondered where I came from and why I was drawn to tapasya.

Another verse which really struck me as I chanted the Cosmic Puja yesterday

was this one:

"Om That twice-born teacher who is always thirsty for accepting the nectar

of devotion, Oh Consciousness, you are in that highest station."

For me, that is proof that our sadhana, our devotion, is welcomed by Shree

Maa and Swamiji. And that makes me very happy.

My fast which consists of only waters and a few crackers each day, is going

well. I devoted days 1-3 to Kali, doing Her puja, 108 names, 1000 names and

kavach. Days 4-6 were devoted to Lakshmi with her 1000 names and puja.

Yesterday I chanted the Cosmic Puja. Today I studied the Cosmic Puja. I plan

to chant the Chandi Path tomorrow and the Sundar Kand on Saturday. There has

been a wonderful rhythm to the worship.

By the way, I worked all week. I work at a restaurant as their accountant.

It is interesting to smell all the food and not be partaking or even

desiring.

Love to all. I hope that you finish Navaratri in bliss.

Wow Ardis!

I just think that's wonderful. I'm a little jealous of your focus. My

Navaratri was nearly so good as yours. God bless you! Jai Maa!

Thank you for your kind words. It is not quantity but quality that

counts. Even a moment of true devotion makes the Mother smile.
