Guest guest
Jai Maa ! Jai Shiva ! This is my personal favorite ... the advice is SO practical. However I am not quite sure of the meaning of this line "serve your doctor as a beggar would serve a Lord" - anyone has any ideas ? Thank you Jai Maa Latha =================================================== Take the cure for the illness of uncontrolled desire, serve your doctor as a beggar would serve a Lord, dont seek the associations of pleasure-seekers or self-centered individuals. Remain contented with whatever you receive in divine union, that which God has consented to give. Remain the same while undergoing all pairs of opposites like hot and cold, pleasure and pain, and DONT GIVE EXPRESSION TO WORTHLESS SPEECH ! Carry yourself as a great renunciate. Dont look to get grace from other men, and dont seek to obtain something from men. ====================================================

Guest guest
Latha, The illness is that of "uncontrolled desire," so the doctor is the gurudeva. These are beautiful verses. Guest guest
To take the cure for the illness of uncontrolled desire, one goes to a guru for the cure. So, the guru is the doctor who you serve as the beggar would serve the Lord. Ramakrishna liked to compare the guru to a doctor. Jai Maa ! Jai Shiva ! This is my personal favorite ... the advice is SO practical. However I am not quite sure of the meaning of this line "serve your doctor as a beggar would serve a Lord" - anyone has any ideas ? Guest guest
Hi, Ardis! these 5 verses are so great! wow here are my thoughts on the beggar/lord thing. I think it is quite simple. If a beggar were out there on the street and asked of a lordly type, and was given what he asked for and needed, he would be very appreciative. He would view that lordly one with awe and respect and do what ever was asked of him... remember here we have a begger who has just been healed and is now healthy again! jayadeva , Ardis Jackson <anandamama@e...> wrote: > > To take the cure for the illness of uncontrolled desire, one goes to a guru > > for the cure.
