Guest guest
hi all anyone have a web link or easy source for the hindu calendar as used by swamiji? i had one last year but no longer have it, so i am still stumped by getting every aspect of the sankalpa right, despite many kind efforts to educate me! [most recently by karen -- thanks karen! bad student, i!] anyway, looking at a calendar i was usually able to make the translation from the western calendar to the sukla, tithi, etc. i visited about 10 web sites and they all had either 2002 calendars, or, only listed events. i did however get a better sense of the marvelous integration of time into spiritual phases and other activites in this system. in the event of some kind of indian-calendar-challenged-disability, what is the view on inserting western days, weeks, omitting the phases, etc? iow, saying anything difficult in english. and, what about parts like, in the sankalpa, what exactly we are doing for example, studying the Guru Gita] most likely will be said in english, unless it is a sankalpa latha has interpreted. ideally i would rather get it right if i can! if i can't [for now] are there any thoughts out there on capturing the essence of the spirit of the sankalpa without any loss, but not capturing the traditional form? any ideas? blessings! s
Guest guest
Steve, The calendar below has the remaining months of 2004 and then goes through 2005 and beyond. I can't comment on the calendar's accuracy or completeness, but last month I think I noticed that the new moon date on this (South African?) calendar was one day off from the new moon date for Pacific Time U.S. (Devi Mandir). I expect the discrepancy was due to timezones. So it might be worthwhile to check the new/full moon dates with something like the U.S. Naval Observatory. (I am assuming you are in the U.S.). It seems that those of us in the U.S. might do better with an already-U.S.-adjusted calendar; does anybody know of one?
