Dear Chris ~ I am sorry to hear about your kitty. A few years ago, I lost a beloved pet, a dog, and not the first one I lost. She was hit by a car. The people who found her tried to keep my from going to see her, but I had to. Even though she was already dead, I held her in my arms, told her how much I loved her, and connected with her then lifeless body as I tried to connect with her spirit. My hubby and I buried her in the back yard and made a medicine wheel over her grave. Since then, she has visited me several times, although not recently, so perhaps she has taken another birth. But I do believe animals have souls and are part of the great sea of Being. I also believe that they stay connected with us, and there is a tradition for this in Western Metaphysics (ever hear of the pet psychic?). Anyway, I am sure whatever you nad Loretta choose to do will honor his being and spirit and your love for him as well as providing closure. As Swami has said before, of the puja books, take what you need and make it your own. This sounds like a good rule of thumb for something like this. Blessings to you and Loretta in your loss and to Kitty ~ Linda
