Namaste to all,

Thanks Latha for sharing Maa's words on singing. One other

thing that Shree Maa said was that "singing is a great

sadhana because it opens the heart."

Swamiji gave us a little history about Maa singing last night.

He said that Maa and he used to sing all night on the rooftops

in Calcutta. There was one group of devotees who worked at a

steel factory nearby and after work they would come and listen to

Maa sing. They sat very still in deep meditation and since

nobody wanted to be the first to move they sat there until

morning and then went back to work. What devotion!

Swamiji briefly translated the song(Prabhater Alo) that Maa sang

last night. It has a beautiful meaning. Here are a few verses.

In the early morning glow is the call to worship within which is

all the time.

I know Mother this entire universe is your gift.

Please establish peace within your gift.

It is all your divine drama,

we still remain your ignorant children,

please give us energy, please give us devotion,

and illuminate the light of wisdom. You are the grantor of all

energy.

You are the protector of the universe.

You are the creator of t he universe.

You reside within the universe.

You give wisdom and devotion to all.

All of us are beset with sorrow and troubles, take us on your

lap, be compassionate to us and grant us freedom from fear.

Jai Maa!

Thank you so much for Swamiji's story and the translation of the lyrics

for Prabhater Alo.

The words are so very beautiful.
