Question from Rick: What weapon did Durga use to kill Mahahanu

(great deceiver), Ugrasya (violent temper), and Ugravirya (passion)

in 3:19?

Swamiji's response: It does not specify.

Rick:What is the symbolism of the rocks and trees (3:17)

Swamiji: She used any element of nature to combat the generals in

the army of the ego. Just as we worship a Shiva Lingam or holy

trees, so She used all of nature.

Rick: (8:57-61) thunderbolt

Swamiji: Illumination

Rick: bees (11:52-54),

Swamiji: Always search to find the nectar.

Rick: and Raktadantika's teeth (11:43-44)?

Swamiji: Red from devouring passion.

Rick: What is the spiritual significance of Ambika killing Dhumralochana (sinful

eyes, 6:3) by reducing him to ashes with the mantra "Hum?"

Swamiji: It is a powerful mantra which can reduce selfishness to ashes. It slays

Sinful Eyes.

Rick: How is it that Asiloman (2:42, want of resolution), Parivarita

(2:43,wandering to and fro), and Sugriva (5:102, he who appears to

be a friend) are never mentioned as being killed by Durga, even

though they are identified as asuras?

Swamiji: The remaining asuras went to live in the lower worlds.

Namaskaar Swamiji and Latha,

I bow in gratitude for your assistance in incorporating the Chandi

into my life. Your example is my "why." Jai Jagadambe!
