Question from Kaliananda:

In studying the Guru Gita and also in the Chandi, there is much

reference to water. The question I would like to ask Swamji is -

with the thought that whatever is happening in the external is

happening internally - what does this flooding mean from a

spiritual standpoint to a disciple. Gu is the darkness, the muddy

waters, the maya - ru is the light. When all of the debris and so

has settled, all that can remain is light. Water is the mirror of

the world - what is causing this degree of cloudiness?

Swamiji's response:

The waters are the ocean of existence, flooding us with worldliness.
