Guest guest
Namaste everybody. Hope you all are doing so well with the grace of Maa and Swamiji. The New Year 2005 is approaching, and it's time for taking "sankalpa". What are you all planning for the individual sankalpa, apart from our group sadhana? Here's a humble idea. If you love Chandipath, and can't find out a 2-3 hours' uninterrupted slot everyday, you may try a sankalpa of 108 Chandipath in the next year -- you will need one such slot in 3 days. It worked for me. We all need to kill our Asuras (dark thoughts) within ourselves; so what a fun when we can say to our dark thoughts 'well, if not today, you are going to be slain in next 3 days'. It's my feeling that you cannot stop from striving for the bigger sankalpa when you can successfully complete a smaller one. "Om Namo Bhagabatyai ShreeMaa-yai Namah Om Namo Bhagabate Satyanandaya" Wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New year. Jai Maa. It worked for me. Namaste Mausami, Thank you for that TERRIFIC idea - for people like me that take up sankalpas to chant the Chandi everyday and get disheartened because we are not able to keep up, this idea of doing 108 in the whole year works really well. I see three ways (atleast) of doing this sankalpa - First as I remember you suggesting in person , that we do as many as we can in the beginning of the year , so that we can complete this sadhana quickly. Whatever we do after the completion will be a nice bonus to score brownie points with Maa :-) This is a neat way of keep track of our progress (I love saying - OK just another 43 more to go and I have a whole six months to complete it in ) and a good half way between Seasonal Chandis to Daily Chandis. The second way of doing this sankalpa - My math mind tells me that if I can do 9 Chandis a month, in 12 months I would have done 108 of em. Also, since the 8,9 and 14 days of a lunar fortnight are considered auspicious to chant this text we can cover 6 recitations a month during these days and do the remaining three on others. A third way of doing the sankalpa :- As Parvati had suggested sometime ago - chant during each Navaratri - the 1-9 days of a fortnight or 6-15 of a fortnight. We could choose either waxing or waning fortnight and complete 9 a month and hence 108 a year. This is a NEAT NEAT NEAT idea Mausami - so simple in execution but so important and an elegant sankalpa. Thank you for sharing this wonderful idea. I am wondering how many people in the group are interested in 108 Chandis a year. I was hoping that we could keep Chandi-date tracker starting January with people's names against them - borrowing the spiritual diary idea from Jayadeva. Isnt this great ? Mausumi shares her experience, we borrow expertise from Jayadeva (spiritual diary) and Parvati (Navaratri idea ) , I get to coordinate <grin> and we all win because of satsanga. Jai Satsanga ! Jai A sankalpa filled New Year ! Please respond and let me know if you will be interested in participating in 108 Chandis in 2005 and would like for the group to keep track of your progress. This is buddy system at its best - all of us cheering each other on. Love Latha
Guest guest
Excuse me, but being new to the group I do not understand how you are chanting the Chandi...is it one complete chandi every three days or 1/3 a day or what? And how can you chant the Chandi in 3 hours.? I have the old book and to chant the entire book would take me about 6 hours. Do you leave some of the sections out and only chant the chapter 1-13? Thank you for your time. Grace On 20/12/2004, at 4:20 AM, Latha Nanda wrote: > > > Mausami wrote : > > > Here's a humble idea. The idea is to do 108 Chandis in one year. You can do the entire Chandi (it takes 3 hours for some folks and longer for others) or you can do the popular Seedha Path or the Straight Path which consists of only the following sections from the book. 1) The introduction pages, to just before "Seven Verses which Express the Essence of She Who Relieves all Difficulties" 2) Praise to the Night of duality 3) The system of worship with the 9 lettered mantra 4) Chapters 1-13 5) The system of worship with the 9 lettered mantra 6) Vedic Praise of the Goddess 7) The song which gives the key to perfection Hope this helps. Again welcome to the group. Jai Maa Latha
