Guest guest
Dear All, I wanted to mention a small experience that I had yesterday with respect to Swamiji's words in todays post on Q&A of chanting. Swamiji says it is important to know what the texts mean - what is the meaning of what we are saying. This struck home yesterday when I had a chat with my friend. She said that she was going to chant the Highest Meaning of the Goddess (from the Chandi) as Swamiji had done Prana Pratishtha (establishment of life) on one of the deities yesterday. You see , I have chanted the Highest meaning of the Goddess several times and have also read this chapter a few times, but only after she pointed it out to me - I remembered the lines "Prana pratishthayam japtva prananam pratishtha bhavati" "If recited at the time of establishment of life within a deity, life will be established" And as a seasoned chanter, she had remembered the lines - and shared them with me too. Thank you my dear friend for being such a great inspiration. When we mentioned this to Swamiji later, he smiled and said "Do you know that whoever studies the Highest Meaning receives the fruit of five complete recitations of the Chandi?" Of course, this had me scurrying back to read the text and indeed I found the lines in the Highest Meaning of the Goddess. Guest guest
Latha, I really love verse 5: I travel with the Relievers of Suffering, with the Finders of Wealth, with the Sons of Enlightenment, as also with the Gods. I hold aloft Friendship and Equanimity, the Rule of the Pure, the Light of Meditation and the Divine urge to Union. It brings to my mind being free of all my limitations, of traveling with nothing across the length and breadth of India, in the company of fellow sadhus and with only the Goddess as company, revelling in the intensity of a life beautiful beyond description, in constant awareness of my own self in all things.
