Guest guest
Dear Ata, The subject of the Guru's feet could fill many libraries..... to answer your question simply: Shiva is usually seen as Pure or Absolute Consciousness and Shakti as His Power or Prakriti, the manifestation of Shiva into the World. If you think of the gunas and your own experience, then the colors white for Shiva (Sattva) and red for Shakti (Rajas)make alot of sense. best. s/

Guest guest
If I could humbly add my 2 cents worth: Yes, Shakti is the Divine Mother. More specifically the word Sakti means energy or the power of God. Shakti is often understood as one of the names of the Mother, such as Devi, etc. but it implies the power or energy of Her. She is often thought of as the wife of lord Shiva for a visual understanding, but it's an important point that Shiva and Shakti are one and the same, only Shakti is the energy of Shiva. Lord Shiva is like the formless absolute - the conciousness of infinite goodness, Siva's Shakti brings the world into existence. When Siva begins to dream the world into being, it is Shakti who manifests it. In this way of looking at it, conciousness is the male face of God, and the universe which is energy and manifest form is the female - the Shakti. Only when the two unite does creation exist. Guest guest
Jai Maa ata, Hmm... It seems like any of the images of the Divine Mother represent Shakti, whether it's Lakshmi, Radha, Saraswati, etc. It seems the image of Durga is very much representative of Shakti because Durga is such a powerful looking form of the Divine Mother. Check out chapter 8 of the Chandi Path, starting at verse 13 for a list of the names and attributes of the various Shakti's. They are all shown as being the energy of the form of God from which they come. So, any image of the Divine Mother is a way of presenting Shakti. I bow to you. Namaste! --- ata <another_tiny_atom wrote: > Nirmalanda, this is very helpful. Now for another > of my huge list of questions, if you please. Guest guest
yes it does happen. eyes and ears must remain open. we need our discrimination. this is powerful stuff, as you say. good for the good, and not-so-good for others. trust is the key. for that the guru must be trustworthy. the devotee has to have discrimination to evaluate. sometimes mistakes are made. but even then our goal is GOD and not to remain as damaged goods. then we find the true guru either within or we are forced to become him on our own. either way the truth will be revealed due to our determination and sincerity. trust self, trust god. om om om. , "Michael Doughty" <woebegone01> wrote: > > > I have only recently become aware of the Guru Gita.
