"It is critical to serve others, to contribute actively to others'

well-being. I often tell practitioners that they should adopt the

following principle: regarding one's own personal needs, there

should be as little involvement or obligation as possible. But

regarding service to others, there should be as many involvements and

obligations as possible. This should be the ideal of a spiritual

person."

--- the Dalai Lama

One way for us to be involved in service to others is through our Devi

Mandir Prayer Club. As Swamiji tell us, "Whenever we act attentively,

without selfishness, efficiently, for the purpose of demonstrating the

sincerity of our devotion, we are praying. Please join us in prayer."

According to Sri Ramakrishna, "Saturday is sweet and sacred." Isn't

it wonderful that we join in prayer on a "sweet and sacred" day?

Let's all plan ahead and make a space in our busy schedules to "act

attentively, without selfishness" this coming Saturday. Let's make

an obligation to serve others by chanting the Maha Mrityunjaya not

only for our loved ones but for the peace and welfare of everyone in

the world.

Thank you for your past and your continuing prayer seva.

Jai Maa! Jai Shiva! Jai Swamiji!
