Dear All, Last Sunday we had a fire ceremony at the Mandir - it was everyone's favorite Chandi Homa, and Swamiji was leading with Maa of course . A group of us gathered around them and we began chanting. At the end of every chapter Maa would say "Chandi Maa Ki " And we would all yell out "JAIIIII" Maa would go on "Dharitri Mata Ki (To Earth Mother)" And we would on cue yell "JAIIIIIII" Then Maa stopped looked at Swamiji expectantly waiting for Swamiji to proceed and Swamiji said "SHREE MAA KI " And of course we shrieked "JAIIIIIII" Maa , reciprocating the honor said "Swamiji Ki" The delighted crowd yelled "JAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAI" And Swamiji pulled a face in mock horror as if to say "why do you praise me ? Praise Maa" This went on for a coupla chapters . Came the fourth chapter and Swamiji had something up his sleeve. Soon after Maa cheered Chandi Maa Ki Jai and Daridri Mata Ki Jai , Swamiji followed up with "ShreeMaa Ki Jai" and without giving time for Maa to respond jumped into the next chapter as if to say "I have outwitted you" But nobody , nobody outwits the Mother of Universe and Maa had the last laugh. The following chapter, we all waited to see what would happen. Maa , instead of saying "Chandi Maa Ki Jai" , before giving anyone any clue said "Swamiji Ki Jai" Swamiji's face was a picture ! How we enjoyed that interchange between two great souls ... Maa didnt stop with that chapter ... every following chapter She called out "Swamiji Ki Jai" before her usual cheers, to the crowd's great delight and amusement ! This thought came: What more can we do than praise the divine which is within each other? How better to show our love and respect than to salute the divinity carried in another's heart? Maa acted the role of Goddess in that play, and swamiji the asura called, "self deprecation." Maa cut off his head, did you notice?
