Guest guest
Sanskrit is written in different letters, and Westerners can't read it at all without studying it. Transliterated Sanskrit is written in the letters we use, often with some special (diacritical) marks to help us make the sounds (and meanings) closer to Sanskrit than we might if we just pronounced the letters as we know them. Transliterated Sanskrit offers us a way to say (and comprehend) the text without knowing Sanskrit, but it still requires some study. When you look at one of Swamiji's texts, we will see three things: (1) Sanskrit text, (2) under the Sanskrit is the transliterated text, and (3) then there is the translated text.
