Guest guest
Dear All, Here is another question that has me up at nights - well OK - thinking over for a long time. What is the difference between love and attachment ? What yardstick would you use to discriminate when love turns to attachment and vice versa ? Can people share their wisdom gleaned with experience and years ? Thank you for your well thought out , intuitive, wise answers that you have found applicable in your lives. Guest guest
Dear Nanda, Attachment is when I expect something in return, even appreciation for my love. True love expects nothing in return and is given even in the face of hatred, anger, etc. Jai Maa Jai Swamiji Grace On 05/02/2005, at 4:37 AM, Nanda wrote: > > > Dear All, > > Here is another question that has me up at nights - well OK - > thinking over for a long time. > > What is the difference between love and attachment ? Guest guest
Well said, Grace! And I'd add that we can often distinguish attachment from love by the extent to which the former [attachment] makes us miserable, and the latter [love] contributes to harmony. , Grace Green <gmgreen108@w...> wrote: > > Attachment is when I expect something in return, > even appreciation for my love. > True love expects nothing in return and is given even in the > face of hatred, anger, etc.

Guest guest
love is the mother, giving. attachment is the ego, taking. yardsticks: love has a freedom and vision. you care for someone, freely. attachment includes expectations. i do for you, but then i expect you do for me. to love completely without attachment is a vision to work towards. the truth is, we have countless expecations, but we can cultivate a propensity for loving over time. , "Nanda" <chandimaakijai> wrote: > > > Dear All, > > Here is another question that has me up at nights - well OK - > thinking over for a long time. > > What is the difference between love and attachment ?
