Guest guest
Attachments are the main hindrance to self-realization. Attachments can to be to family, persons, money, power, and the worst of all fame. Even Gurus who have given up all attachments fall a prey to their attachment to fame. We should continuously aim to give up all attachments. As Sri Ramakrishna said we should try to lead our life like a mudfish that lives in mud all the time, but without any mud sticking to it. Attachments apply to inanimate things also. Our favorite pen, book, computer and may be even to clubs. Giving up attachments is a life long process and there could be a slippage any time. By the grace of MAA we are able to give up the attachments. She would ensure that they drop off. The dropping of could be gradual or sudden. We find from the lives of Saints how a particular event triggered the dropping off of all attachments. Love on the other hand is the essence of life. Love without expectations or attachments. This is again a gradual process.
