Guest guest
Dear All, My thanks to all those that responded to the poll on their favorite text for chanting. I posed this question to Swamiji last Sunday and thought that the answer would be obvious "The Chandi" ... but of course thats what I thought he'd say. How wrong I was ! He said "Thats a difficult question. I love them all" But I prodded "You chant the Chandi everyday" "Yes, thats true" , he acknowledged , " but I love all texts . I chant because I love God" and then he continued "now if you had asked about my favorite Goddess ... My favorite Goddess is Shree Maa " Jai Shree Maa ! Guest guest
Namaste, Nandaji and all of our beloved family, i have to say that the poll was really a difficult decision for me to make; The Chandi IS my favotite scripture to chant for many reasons, but i also chant many of the other scriptures, as well, and, i know it may sound wishy/washy, but each one has a different flavor or Rasa, and i dearly love all of them, and some even equal to the Chandi Path! One of the scriptures i chant on a regular basis is Kali Sahasranama![and there was NO vote for that one]. i probably would have felt more comfortable if the question would have been 'What is your favorite scripture or scriptures [plural] to chant?' i know it may sound silly, but i felt kind of bad when i saw some of them didn't receive a vote. They are all so Glorious! So many wonderful flavors of Scriptures! They all are very juicy and make my mouth water, they are so sweet! Jai Maa! Jai Swamiji! Jai Ramakrishna Deva! P.S 'Too Much' And 'Too Little' strike again!!!! :<) , "Nanda" <chandimaakijai> wrote: > > > Dear All, > My thanks to all those that responded to the poll on their favorite > text for chanting. > > I posed this question to Swamiji last Sunday and thought that the > answer would be obvious "The Chandi" ... but of course thats what I > thought he'd say. Guest guest
dear Muktimaa I know how you feel...I chant many of the other chants also and suppose I opted for my favorite of the moment. As I am still learning the chandi most of the rasa is lost in the process. Guest guest
<< i probably would have felt more comfortable if the question would have been 'What is your favorite scripture or scriptures [plural] to chant?'>> My sentiments also. It makes me sad to see Vishnu Sahasranamam and Maa Kali Sahasranamam getting no votes and MAA Lalitha Sahasranamam getting only one vote. I used to recite Vishnu Sahasranamam regularly in seventies. Then I started reciting Lalitha Sahasranamam and Trisathi in the eighties. There is also a beautiful Lalitha ashtothra namavali. Then about 13 to 14 years back I received the adhikara (permission) for reciting SRI SRI CHANDI. It took me nearly two years before I could get the Adhikara from a proper Guru. From then onwards it has been only Chandi Path. I do recite Maa Kali Sahasranamam, though not regularly. Sri Sri Chandi (Devi Mahatmya) has been described as one of the most beautiful poems ever written in Sanskrit. The book Devi Mahatmya: The Crystallization of the Goddess Tradition by Thomas B. Coburn (available in amazon.com) is the most comprehensive study of the text and provides very valuable information for Chandi Upasakas. This book and Swamiji's Chandi Path have helped me in my Upasana. Guest guest
HI Muktimaa, Yes, I also agree. It's very hard to say what is the favorite. I like to chant several of them. They're all so great. --- muktimaa <muktimaa wrote: > > > Namaste, Nandaji and all of our beloved family, > i have to say that the poll was really a difficult > decision for me to > make; The Chandi IS my favotite scripture to chant > for many reasons, > but > i also chant many of the other scriptures, as well, > and, i know it > may sound wishy/washy, but each one has a different > flavor or Rasa, > and i dearly love all of them, and some even equal > to the Chandi > Path! Guest guest
Berijoy, rasa is the innate sweetness or joy of anything. Guest guest
thank you, grace. now i know exactly what you mean. learning new chants does seem to minimize the rasa because of the focus you need. but the time when you have some familiarity and can change focus, then ahhhhhh.
