Our Beloved Maa says that God gave us 24 hours to live as follows: 8 hours with God, 8 hours of selfless service, and 8 hours to take care of the body. It has been a very useful guideline in defining the purpose of my life. The symmetry in the division helps us to conquer too much and too little. Swami Satchidananda of Yogaville has said something similar: Have a easeful body, peaceful mind (8 hours with God) and useful life (8 hours selfless service). I bring this up because Our Beloved Maa has asked us to think about the purpose of our life. A few more names for Our Beloved Maa: She who loves Ganesha, She who is Lord Ganesha's Mother, She who manifests as the desire for perfection She who comes as the gentle breeze that cradles us as we pray She who is fiercely protective of Her children Jai Maa!
