Guest guest
Dear All, Here is another of Srini's thoughtful questions "How does a sadhak reduce body consciousness ?" This seems more of a question to Swamiji, but I would love to know what you have to say. My response would be "Sadhana - and using the lessons learned from sadhana to fuel our discrimination in avoiding activities that enhance body consciousness." Guest guest
I don't believe it is possible to reduce consciousness in this age. Body consciousness or otherwise. It is more preferable, in my opinion to increase ones Consciousness Consciousness, that is to say ones awareness of Maa or Sprit Consciousness to the point that it makes body consciousness inconsequential. Its like that story that you (Nanda) posted about the Master telling the student about the million (doll)ars. When we desire Her more than we desire physical pleasure or fear physical pain, then body consciousness will not make any difference. With my ideals out of the way, here's some of the practical things I try to do: 1. Don't feel guilty about any desire. Period. Desire is beyond the control of mind, so self blame will not help. 2. Think of desire or fear (pleasure or pain) like you would waves in the ocean, let it come and go, washing across you. Don't be taken by the wave, ride above it, keeping your sense of self in a boat on top of the water. 3. When you can't surf it, just let it drag you around and be aware that it is dragging you around, then laugh and say, "So Mom! Where are we going today?" 4. Be accutely aware of others and observe their attempted methods of dealing with desire and fear. The more you know them, the more you will know yourself. 5. Think of desire as the single most powerful form of love in the universe. If you can keep love within your heart while performing any act, you will break the cycles of the opposites, the threes, the fives and the sevens. This will give you the wisdom necessary to become so aware of your body, that only awareness of Maa remains. Guest guest
Body consciousness is a componet of the ego. Recite the Chandi, do puja, become devoted and expand your williness to serve those around you. Seva works wonders and can go far in deminishing body consciousness. , "Nanda" <chandimaakijai> wrote: > > > Dear All, > Here is another of Srini's thoughtful questions > > "How does a sadhak reduce body consciousness ?" > > This seems more of a question to Swamiji, but I would love to know > what you have to say. > > My response would be "Sadhana - and using the lessons learned from > sadhana to fuel our discrimination in avoiding activities that > enhance body consciousness." > > > Jai Maa > Nanda
