Guest guest
Dear Friends, Last time I was in Devi Mandir, in the evening, Swami led the aarati and sang Jai Shiva Omkar. At the end, He turned around and said to us, "Shiva, What a privilege just to say the name Shiva!" Truly, what a privilege! In a different context, a householder-renunciate told me that each time we say "Om Namah Shivayah", we move from the earthly world to the Divine world. A question for the group: Would any know of any books on the stories of Lord Shiva from the Puranas? Jai Maa! Jai Shiva! srini
Guest guest
The Shiva Purana is great for that. It has been available on Amazon.com. My wife and I also enjoy some of the televised versions of the Puranas and stories from Indian TV that are available on DVD with English subtitles. We are currently rewatching the Ramayana done by Ramanad Sagar. We also have recently seen Shree Ganesh which has a lot with Shiva in it. There is a version of the Shiva Purana and a series called Om Namah Shivay, but I have not seen them yet so I can't vouch for the quality, although, I suspect it will be good. Guest guest
Another place you can try is http://www.amarchitrakatha.com Amar Chitra Katha is a comic book series which tells stories from India ( myths, religious, patriotic, wit etc). Some of these comics gives the philosophy very simply and in a easily graspable manner and are very nicely illustrated.A lot of kids in the 70s and 80s grew up learning from these books. regds - Arjuna <arjunaacharya Monday, February 21, 2005 6:04 pm Re: Om Namah Shivayah! > Dear Srini, > The Shiva Purana is great for that.
