Guest guest
Question from Nanda: When is Sri Ramakrishna's birthday? Different texts mention different dates. Thank you for clarifying. Swamiji's response: There is a lot of controversy over Ramakrishna's birth date. It says so in our text. The RK Math says February 18th. Sarada Convent is split between the 20th and 22nd. The Bengali text says he was either 51 or 52 when he died. But one thing is certain: nobody celebrates his English birthday according to the Julian calendar. They don't even celebrate his Sanskrit birthday according to the Vikramik calendar. They do observe his Bengali birthday according to the Bengali calendar. This year (2005) it will be March 12th. Nanda's footnote : Hey Jana ! How about we celebrate for one month - mid Feb to mid March - to cover all bases ?

Guest guest
I just had a wonderful time celebrating Ramakrishna’s birthday. I guess I can consider it a practice run for March 12. Please thank Swamiji for clearing this up for me. Ardis on 2/22/05 5:27 PM, Nanda at chandimaakijai wrote: Question from Nanda: When is Sri Ramakrishna's birthday?
