Guest guest
Dear Christine, Welcome back to the group. I would like to offer my two cents. Please feel free to sift through for what you can use. IMHO, the question really is "I want to grow. Who can help me at this point in life ?" It could be the Guru geographically close to me, or emotionally available to me or simply accesible to me. It could be a person not in the above category, but someone I am drawn to because I share their ideology or sadhana. It could ANY reason.... but it seems to me, that more than the choice of the Guru, is ....whether I am able to be a disciple ....whether I am able to stick with the sadhana prescribed by the Guru. IMHO, the sadhana is the link to the Guru. No sadhana, No Guru. Know Sadhana, Know Guru (Hey that was pretty good if I may say so meself) ....whether I have a reasonable amount of confidence and trust in the Guru even as I am checking him/her out , even as She/He is checking me out ....whether I am able to have realistic expectations of my Guru - ie not expecting them to solve all my worldly problems with a kiss to the little finger, but instead try to fit in their world by doing sadhana. I guess I would put it more simply as - Not try to drag them into the world with my problems, but go beyond my problems into their world. ....whether I can look beyond the personality of the Guru to appreciate what He/She has to offer. ....whether I am able to renounce all my idealistic notions of what the Guru should or shouldnt do And why shouldnt I respect all the great saints that come my way ? I love em all, but for my own clarity I will practice in one presribed path instead of mixing and matching - for clearly I am not the Guru - not yet anyway, and so I will faithfully follow the one teaching that is of relevance to me at this point in time. OK those are my opinions ... and hope they help you in someway as you work to getting clarity to your question. Thanks for the question Jai Maa Nanda

Guest guest
Dear Christine, Nanda gave some excellent answers to the guru part of your question. I agree that it is you who has to be a disciple, and must learn to do Sadhana. As you progress, the sadhana which works for you, i.e. you can continue to practice it and grow with it might help you with your dilemma. But also know that there is only one Consciousness, Self, God...whatever you chose to call it and the different gurus are different only in form not essence. As to the puja, try the Beginner Shiva Puja book from Devi mandir with the Cd. As long as your intention is pure the rest will follow and you will learn how to do puja to Shiva. Guest guest
Thank you as well, Grace (I'm sorry - I didn't see your reply until just now)! Yours was an excellent answer not unlike Nanda's, and I appreciated the input about the Beginner Shiva puja book and CD, which another kind member of this group had mentioned to me in a private email. When I am able to afford them, I will place an order! Jai Ma(a)! Jai Swamiji! Guest guest
Hey Kanda, I love that line: “other beings that came here have various realizations. To see one as preferred would be recognition of a teaching that resonates within.” So...we are drawn to the Guru that resonates with our Inner Self. Between you and Brian, I am being well-fed today. : ) Ardis on 2/23/05 11:36 AM, kandaaran (AT) aol (DOT) com at kandaaran (AT) aol (DOT) com wrote: In a message dated 2/22/05 9:50:14 P.M. Guest guest
I must gather inspiration from wherever possible, from Brahma, Visnu, the Lord Mahesvara, from all sources possible. This does not show disrespect. --Swamiji, Introduction to the Guru Gita. Christine <halfelf333 (AT) aol (DOT) com> wrote: Is it possible to have two Satgurus?
