On will and surrender - for Gina

Dear Gina,

The best lesson on this subject that I have seen is in The Gospel of

Sri Ramakrishna.

He had a disciple who had a problem with alcohol addiction and lived a

rather base existence even though he loved Ramakrishna with his whole

heart. Sri Ramakrishna told him "Don't worry. Give me your power of

attorney. You don't have to do anything. I will take care of

everything."

How amazing! All Girish Ghosh had to do was have faith in his guru

and lay his problems at his feet. He grew into one of Ramakrishna's

closest disciples.

Shree Maa and Swamiji tell us the same thing about our relationship

with Chandi Ma (or Durga or Kali or Lakshmi or Shiva). Lay everything

at their feet. Give it all up. Give Them your power of attorney.

Remember, practice makes perfect. Surrender a little at first. Then

surrender a little more. Why hold on to things that do not really

belong to you? Everything is your desire, Maa. Everything is your

creation, Maa. Maa, Maa, Maa, Maa. I give it all back to you. Do

with me what you will. I am your creation. Do what you will. Mold

me. Use me. Squash me. There is no "me". There is only You!!

I so appreciate this post from Ardis, as recently I realize I was

suffering due to my own attachment to certain outcome recently. And to

really "Shining" somehow. And yet I wasn't feeling so bright...some

heavy feelings were arising.

So I just have some question now about this. Of course, as Maa sings

to/as Kali, "Everything is your desire". And there are times when that

is so clearly an experience. And other times when I'm just relying on a

concept or memory of that awareness. Perhaps it is because I want Maa

to appear just in a "lightness" sometimes, rather than welcoming also

in other forms.

I'm wondering where does "will" come in, to meet with "surrender". The

answer that always came for me is "remember who is doing it". But at

this moment it is just a concept.

Would you care to share your wisdom on how to deal with heavier or

"negative" emotions as they arise, especially when one is to be in

service?

Thank you!

Jai Jai Beautiful Ma
