Guest guest
Dear All, Here is Swamiji's message to our group for Shivaratri. Begin Swamiji's message - I want to share what devotees can offer for puja on Shiva Ratri. 6 PM Milk bath 9 PM Yogurt 12 AM Ghee 3 AM Honey Anytime between 5:32 and midnight PST offer Durga ashtottara shatanama stotram, perform pitha nyasa from Cosmic Puja, panch amrita snan for Divine Mother, and one mala navarna japa. Offer incense, lights, naivedya for Mother. This will satisfy the Shatabisha Nakshatra paddhoti. End Swamiji's message -- Accordingly, what Swamiji has said will take the place of our originally proposed Group Sankalpa for March 8th. Jai Swamiji. Guest guest
Dear Grace, Naivedya means offering, especially food offering. Pancha - means 'five' Amrita - means 'nectar' snan - means 'bath' So panchamrita snana refers to the five nectars bath which is part of every puja. The five nectars are a) milk b) yoghurt c) ghee (clarified butter) d) honey e) sugar You would need to mix a little of each of the above ingredient and offer to the deity . Hope this helps. Please let me know of further questions. Guest guest
Dear Nanda, thanks for that, now all the offering are poured over the murti and collected in a bowl or plate that the murti is on. What is done with the offerings when the puja is over. We drink the prasad. In the Mandir, at the end of the evening Arati, all the offerings (the five) are mixed together and given one spoonful each to a person with the blessing "Sarva Shanti Karo Bhava" which means "May you be at peace" Jai Maa NAnda

Guest guest
Namaste Surya, On Maha Sivaratri, we offer the four ingredients at four separate pujas. I am not sure why we dont offer sugar , perhaps since there is no fifth puja. Anyways, I too would like to know the answer to your question . I will forward to Swamiji. Guest guest
Thanks. Last year I did a 5th offering at dawn. We gave a Ganga Jal bath in between for rinsing with some Sandalwood paste in it at the end. The Amrit from this was incredible! - Nanda Monday, February 28, 2005 4:31 PM Re: For Shivaratri ...
