Eight names of Shiva.

MahaShiva Ratri is next Tuesday. I have a Narmada

lingam on my altar, which I will pour the panchamrit

over during the puja. I realize I have collected

numerous images of Lord Shiva over the years, and

wonder how many I can display on my altar, and the

appropriate way of honoring them. I think some

worshippers mark the statues with red kumkum? Where

do the marks go?

I came across a prayer to the eight names of Lord

Shiva, with chakras and elements to offer them.

1. Sharva, root chakra, offer Earth (incense)

2. Bhava, womb chakra, offer Water (juice)

3. Pashupati, navel chakra, offer Fire (candle)

4. Ishana, heart chakra, offer Air (flower)

5. Bhima, throat chakra, offer Akasha (ring bell)

6. Rudra, right eye, offer the Sun (an orange)

7. Mahadeva, left eye, offer the Moon (a lemon)

8. Ugra, brow chakra, offer the Sacrifice (an egg)

The Sanskrit structure of the offerings were (if I

recall correctly):

Om Sharva-ya pritivi-murtaye dhoope svaha.

Om Bhava-ya jala-murtaye argye svaha.

Om Pashupata-ye agni-murtaye deepe svaha.

Om Ishana-ya vayu-murtaye pushpe svaha.

Om Bhima-ya akasha-murtaye ghante svaha.

Om Rudra-ya aditya-murtaye surya-phale svaha.

Om Mahadeva-ya soma-murtaye chandra-phale svaha.

Om Ugra-ya yajamana-murtaye medhe svaha.

Is my limited Sanskrit correct?
