Dear All,

For Shivaratri, please observe the pujas according to YOUR local times.

ie please perform

1 st puja - 6 pm YOUR local time March 8

2nd puja - 9 pm YOUR local time March 8

3rd puja - 12 am YOUR local time March 8

4th puja - 3 am YOUR local time March 8

Hope this clarifies the doubts that you have on Shivaratri timings.

For the Satabisha Nakshatra Paddhoti, you have two options

a) Either consult your local almanac and see if the Satabisha

Nakshatra falls on Tuesday March 8th. If it does, perform the

appropriate puja as indicated in

POST -/message/9758

after Satabisha rises .

OR

b) Adjust to your local time according to the Pacific Time.

For example, Satabisha rises in California time 5.32 PM on Tuesday Mar

8th. Therefore it would be 8.32 PM EST .

So folks in the Eastern Time Zone can start their worship after 8.32

PM EST and you too would perform the puja per the post

/message/9758

Note :- Not everyone across the world will find Satabisha rising on

Tuesday. For most of the folks - in India and the East, this Nakshatra

will most likely rise on Wednesday, in which case observing the

Paddhoti is optional for you.

Hope this helps .

irreguardless of the time in the rest of the world.

What is Satabisha and how do I know when it rises?

Dear Grace,

You would do your Shivaratri puja starting at 6 pm your time on

March 8th.

Everybody would their Shivaratri puja starting at 6pm their time on

March 8th.

It is only for the Satabisha Paddhoti that you would either

a) try and find out when it is rising. How does one find this out -

consult your almanac and or your local astrologer. Satabisha is the

name of the star . I do not know its English equivalent - sorry.

This is the best that I can do to help in this case.

OR

b)to make life simple, you would do the paddhoti at the time when

you know that it is rising in California and adjust for your times

accordingly. In your case, when California is Mar 9 , 5.32 PM you

are already into Wednesday March 10, so you will not be doing the

paddhoti to satisfy the "requirement" - which is "Tuesday , the day

before new moon, with Satabisha rising". You would have already gone

it wednesday ... therefore the paddhoti will not apply to you and

most of the folks in the Eastern world. The only folks who can take

advantage of this paddhoti are the folks in the Americas (all those

when they adjust to their local times with Pacific time will still

fall into Tuesday).

So since your day falls into wednesday, the paddhoti is really

optional for you.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Or do I do

it at 6pm , tuesday the 8 in australia

irreguardless of the time in the rest of the world.

What is Satabisha and how do I know when it rises?
