Guest guest
Dear All, The Satabhisha Nakshatra Paddhoti was a special highlight of Shivaratri this year at the Mandir. Picture this - a bunch of devotees around the homa pit chanting "Om Namah Shivaya" - the sankalpa was to complete a 100 malas during the night in between the other main fare - Rudri , Sahasranam and the pujas. And then there were the devotees that spread around the Mandir bent over trying to write something.... If you peered over their shoulder , like Swamiji did with a one eyebrow lifted up, you would have seen the devotees sweating it out writing the 108 names of Durga in Sanskrit no less. (Maa asked me outright "What are you writing" . ) Yes ,dear readers, if you read the 108 names of Durga , it is said that there is great merit in WRITING these names on the day of bhaumavasya, satabisha etc etc ( honest, didnt remember this until that evening, else I woulda egged all y'all to write too ) The writing bug bit a lot of people , as everyone tried to finish by midnight so that they too could have a sporting chance at becoming the lord of wealth as promised in the text. And the white paper and pens near the fax machine kept disappearing. Jai Shiva Nanda
