I used his discussion of Sutra #3 as a starting point for reflection and as an outline for my own personal inventory to measure progress toward fulfilling the "three debts of karma we assume when taking birth". "Nurturing the next generation in the way we want this world to become" is a big one. Perhaps you or your friend who is a mother would also find his words useful (see in particular pages 35-36 of The Guru and The Goddess). I am praying for your friend's peace.
