Listening to Maa chant the Navarna Mantra while driving long

distances to spend a few hours with my grandparents. Praying, and in

silence and now reading up on what all you folks have been up to! :)

Dear Ardis and all,

I was at work today. I did spend time to browse Swamiji's latest

offering on Ramakrishna.

At the Mandir, they would have done visarjana to the Shiva Lingams

that Maa makes during the month of Magh. They would have with much

fan fare and procession, immersed all the lingams in a little creek

that runs across the Mandir property.

So what did you do ?

Ramakrishna's Birthday

First offering was an hour of japa.

Second offering was Prayer Club. What a long list we had yesterday!

So many new names. It really felt like sadhana yesterday.

Third offering was Guru Gita Class. Thanks to Steve's inspired

leadership, we really got going. All participated fully and shared

their personal love of the Guru as well as their understanding of the

text. Come on folks, join us next Saturday to deepen your

understanding and expand your joy.

Fourth offering was Shiva Puja Beginner substituting "Om namo bhagavate

Sri Ramakrishnaya namo namah" for Om namo Shivaya. Also chanted the

108 Names of Shiva, did Arati and chanted the Shiva Chalisa.

Afterward I chanted a mala of Om Namo Bhagavate Sri Satyanandaya Namo

Namah".

Fifth offering was readiing several chapters from "Ramakrishna: the

Nectar of Eternal Bliss" by Shree Maa and Swamiji.

Sixth offering: played some favorite music and danced my heart out for

Thakur.

Seventh offering was birthday cake (cheesecake) and singing of Happy

Birthday to You, Happy Birthday to You, Happy Birthday Dear

Ramakrishna, Happy to You. Shared with my daughter and my

daughter-in-law who came up from San Bernardino. Shared some

Ramakrishna stories with them.

Eighth offering: Took my daughter and daughter-in-law in to town to a

new coffee house where a friend of mine was playing guitar and singing.

In my blessed state, every song was a love song to Sri Ramakrishna.

Ninth offering: came home and gave my daughter some clothes that were

given to me by a friend. Seeing her eyes light up in gratitude

reminded me of the light in Thakur's eyes.

Tenth offering: went to bed and relaxed back into japa, the background

becoming the foreground " Om namo bhagavate Sri Ramakrishnaya namo

namah."

Thank you Thakur for a great birthday celebration.

Your child,

Ardis

I love when they do visarjan of the Shiva Lingams. It is truly magical

and holy. Lots of joy!

Namaste everyone!

I'm still around! Just away for a bit. Please can someone tell me

about the visarjan...what is it? why? how is it performed? what does

the word mean, literally....everything about this ..it's of GREAT

importance to me because of something that happened on Shivaratri

with my Shiva Lingam. I missed you all.

love,

sadhvi
