Guest guest
Jai Maa! I would like to say that I am loving being a part of this group! I have been on many e-mail groups, probably too many, but this one is far and away the very best of the bestest best! I have recently gotten the strong desire to perform an anusthana of my mantra. An anusthana, as I understand it, is a process whereby one purifies oneself to experience the full power of a mantra. One recites the mantra typically a total of 100,000 times, a specific number every day until the goal is reached. Then one offers the mantra in homa 10,000 times, followed by tarpana of the mantra 1,000 times, and marjana 100 times. Finally, one offers bhojana, or food offering, to ten persons. This is what I have read. To actually do this at some point will require preparation and learning, and I have many, many questions. The first and most obvious is, "What are tarpana and marjana, and how would they be performed in this context?" My prostations to Shree Maa and Swamiji. Jai Maa! --Aravind
Guest guest
There wre some posts on it in the past. Maybe Nanda can point them out. There are different types of anusthan and there are various rules that one could impose on it to make the tapas stronger. Purascharana is a common type of mantra anusthan, where the repetition is determined by the number of syllables of the mantra. I have to run to work but as I said, there are posts in the past. I know I went into detail so if it is at all possible to search the past posts of an individual member, that would lead you to the grouping of posts about it.
