Dear Steve ~ this is stating the obvious, I am sure, but anger is a

feeling like any other. It is exactly what we DO with it that

matters...not shoving down, not exploding outward...perhaps just

letting it pass as we do any thought or feeling in meditation. Anger

is also an opportunity. A man I trust very much once told me that

anger means we are not getting our way, so having the feeling of

anger gives us the chance to look into our own hearts and see what is

going on there. I have dealt with this feeling for such a long time,

for reasons I have shared here before. At one time in my life when I

was having a particularly difficult time, not just with anger, but

with realizing that I, like Gerold Jampolsky said at a conference I

attended once, was capable of anything, even the greatest evil. This

was very hard to look into. I found a way to make friends with my

"dark" side. I picked a metaphor, the dragon, which in our culture

has been somewhat reviled, and I turned the dragon into my aly. I

wrote a song about it and a children's story. In the story, the

dragon came to my window and took me places, told me stories, and we

toasted marshmallows over it's fiery breath.

Jai Maa ~ Linda

The Dragon

1.

Honor the dragon;

do not be afraid.

the beast

will not harm you,

though it may alarm you

to look upon its face.

2.

Purify by fire;

burn illusion away.

Your fondest desire

is to let go

of what makes you feel afraid.

Chorus 1

Ride the dragon, ride

into the night; go Night Rider.

You’re not a child anymore.

Lift your sword into the Light;

unlock the fright;

upon the door.

Chorus 2

Open the door to the sunrise;

let the dawn shine on your eyes.

Where do you look

that you do not see yourself.

You are all that surrounds.

Let go illusion,

and you’ll see all the wealth.

Would you raise your hand

to strike yourself down.
