Dear Steve ~ I used to be terrified of death. As a child and adolescent, I would lie awake at night in fear of death. Then in my early 20s, my grandfather died. Several months later, I was in Boston (I lived in the DC area at the time), and I had this experience. I had gone to bed and was reading. I was in that kind of in between state, between waking and sleeping. I had an impulse to look to my right, and there was my grandfather. He was in his Light Body, but I recognized him nevertheless. Telepathically, he let me know that he had come so that I would not need to fear death, that there was continuity after death, and he was here to show it. My right arm was stretched out on the bed. He touched my index finger? (the one next to the thumb), and I felt a wave of electricity pass through me from head to toe and then back, like a wave. Then he was gone, and I was left in a state of deep peace. Quite some time after my grandmother died, she began to appear to me from time to time, especially whenever I was having any kind of procedures done on my body as this has always been somewhat traumatic to me. She is with me still; I feel her presence right now, as she comes to tell me, that in my current sorrow, all will be well. I don't know if this kind of personal experience helps you feels better, but it helped changed my ideas about death. I also have a memory from early childhood of a place (the astral plane?). It was so beautiful with green grass, trees, fountains and beautiful people walking about talking. I remember something about 7 levels, but that is all I can remember of that one.
