Guest guest
Bowing When I started going up to the ashram, I found my self having a strange experience. The very first time I drove up, I saw Swamiji leading a group of people on a tour of the land. As soon as I saw him, I took my hands off the steering wheel, closed my eyes and bowed to him and just trusted the car to park itself safely! (It did.) From then on, whenever I saw Swamiji, I bowed to him. Sometimes it was as though I didn’t have any choice; my body just did it. Sometimes it was with great joy. Sometimes it was almost playful. Eventually it was a sign of my devotion and reverence for him. Sometimes they were full prostrations, sometimes half prostrations (on the knees with the head and arms on the ground). Sometimes just a standing “namaste”. However it was done, bowing was a strong means of expressing my connection with Swamiji and offering him a gesture of love, respect and surrender.
