Guest guest
I have only recently become aware of the Guru Gita. Reading the english translation I see that it is some pretty powereful stuff. I am concerned that something like this could very easily be abused by an unscrupulous "guru" or spiritual teacher and be used to entrap the unwary and blind them to possible abuse by "The Guru". I have in fact seen this being done to a very dear friend of mine and am very concerned. I believe that a person should be very careful who he or she enters this kind of relationship with and check out their "Guru" intensely before giving him (or her) this much power over their lives. I would be very interested in hearing everyone's thoughts on this subject. Michael
Guest guest
Indeed it does happen. It happened to this being once in a big way, and my life was totally, totally wrecked. I don't want to go into details about it. But, here is a good guide to evaluate gurus: It's what Jesus said; "you will know them by their fruits". Take a look at the deciples of the guru, and see if they seem real and sincere. Most especially, see if they have been around for a long time. Real seekers won't stay around a false guru for too long, because they see through the scam eventually. The real teachers will have devotees and deciples who are both truly advanced seekers and are people of truth. Some of those deciples will have been with the guru/teacher for many years, even decades, and it's possible to see the positive effect that it's had on their lives.
