Dear Sherri, I have very little exposure to the learning on Shaivism in itself, the way you described in your post and so am not able to comment on that topic. Instead I have forwarded to Swamiji to ask for his input. The lines from you above, THAT I can respond to based on my own experience. I totally agree with you - prepare during the time of waiting . Question is what do we prepare for ? What sadhana do we do while waiting ? Again this is my take on the matter and we will hear what Swamiji has to say. IMHO, I have dabbled a bit with many techniques , if you will. A mantra diksha here, a meditation technique there etc etc. So now when I am trying out to see if a specific Guru is right for me , and vice versa ... do I stick with the techniques that I have learned so far or do I do something entirely new? I think practicing a technique given by one teacher will only take you closer to that teacher. But if I am looking for a new teacher then I want to focus on what would bring me closer to the new teacher. In this case of Shree Maa and Swamiji - to me it seems straightforward - read any of the books published by Swamiji and try to start a practice that they have written about , to the best of your ability. Of course when we start practising, we will have questions and that will begin the dialogue, and closeness, and seva, and sadhana and ultimately one hopes a closer bond like a disciplehood. This seems to me to be the progression - from a casual interested devotee to someone that is looking to sincerely learn from them. My two cents... I look forward to hearing from others and your response too Sherri :-) Jai Maa Nanda
Guest guest
There are many types of teachers. If anyone feels particularly drawn toward Shree Maa, Swami and the publications of the Devi Mandir they should certainly take up the practices. In that way the bond will grow, so I concur with Latha's suggestions on this topic. Pursue the avenue for which you feel the greatest enthusiasm, because it takes a great deal of energy and personal committment to succeed in sadhana. You may find that it takes zeal to grow within and make things real. Sometimes there are blockages and at other times there are openings. Those who make the preparations can formulate a platform on which to launch into the infinite. We can probably with deft guidance birth ourselves toward infancy and be reborne. , "Latha Nanda" <lathananda> wrote: > > > > Sherri wrote" > > > > I, like so many others in the group, yearn to sit at the Mother's > > feet.
