Guest guest
Dear Devotee Friends, I am writing this email with a request to all of you to guide me on sri yantra. I recently happened to purchase a beautiful crystal sri yantra. I want to know the method of worship and mantra. Please guide me on this. I heard that sri yantra is most powerful of all yantras. Thanks! Respectfully, Sana
Guest guest
Jai Maa! Dear Sana, I'm very happy to hear that you have obtained a crystal Sri Yantra. This is very auspicious for your practice. There is an ocean of knowledge on mantras and worship methods for the Sri Yantra. This ocean is known as Sri Vidya. I might know of only one or two drops from this ocean, but I can give you some pointers. Technically, the Sri Yantra can be worshipped with any auspicious mantra, because it is believed that every form of Divinity resides in the Sri Yantra. It represents the entire cosmos, which has emanated from the Supreme Divine Mother. The bindu is where Devi is said to reside, in the center from which everything emanates and into which everything becomes absorbed. All the triangles represent different levels of reality and different divine forces. The specific angles focus cosmic energy in specific ways, and direct that energy into the person who sits in front of the Sri Yantra. If we chant in front of it, that magnifies the energy even more. The yantra must be placed in a certain direction, with the innermost (smallest) central triangle pointing *towards* you when you sit in front of it. Some mantras, pujas, and stotras are most traditional and most powerful for worshipping the Sri Yantra. These are mostly any practice related to Lalita Devi. This would include Lalita Sahasranama, Lalita Trisati, Khadgamala Stotram, etc. The main mantra for the Sri Yantra is the Panchadasakshari (or Shodasakshari) Mantra. I believe Swamiji has explained this mantra in the book that contains the Lalita Trisati. Most people say that one should be initiated into this mantra before practicing it. However, Swamiji has mentioned that one can practice the mantra according to the teaching, and initiation will come in due time. I may not be understanding him correctly, so please check with him before working with Panchadasakshari. Other traditional chants include the Sri Suktam and Samputita Sri Suktam. For worship purposes, one could offer kumkum, turmeric, milk, cloves, cardamom pods, flowers, etc, to the Sri Yantra while chanting one's text. This is a very simple way to do puja for one's Sri Yantra. Milk abhishekam is very powerful. Usually, if chanting the Lalita Sahasranam or Trisati as a namavali, one can offer with each "namaha". If offering with something like Sri Suktam, one can offer with each verse. If you would like more details about anything, let me know, and I can provide some written materials. Jai Maa!
