I've been chanting parts of the Chandi (the hymns mainly) for a while now, and about six months ago I chanted the introductory verses, pre- and post- angas, and the middle charitra in one sitting. So I loved when I came to the parts I somewhat know. They were like old friends. Parts in anushtup seem to come easily, once I get into the rhythm. Vedic Ratri Suktam, and especially the Highest Meaning of the Goddess, were quite difficult. I confess that while I had listened to the chanting tapes as much as possible over the last couple of days, I hadn't gotten to those parts to hear Shree Maa and Swamiji chanting them. My mistake. Hearing them chant always seems to make chanting on one's own so much easier. I'm beginning to understand why Swamiji seems to recommend growing Chandi practice part by part. And already I'm thinking ahead to my future engagement with this incredible text. I'm really enjoying this! Thank you Nanda for all of your seva, including answering my last minute questions.
