Guest guest
Dear Nanda, Hoe gaat het? Seems like a long time since the end of the Shiva puja course. I have learned so much in such a short time and all the while you are there to answer questions and encouraging us beginners! You are a gem! So, since you're asking: I must confess I found the Chandi sankalpa quite intimidating, since I had no idea what I let myself in for. But, after having drawn strength from the descriptions of my predecessors who weren't able to chant the entire Chandi fluently the first time either, I started this morning. By the grace of God and Guru I have managed to chant today's portion: the sweet voices of Shree Maa and Swamiji carried me all the way through as I was chanting along with the mp3. It was a bewildering experience, however, since I could not read the translation at the same time as chanting, had trouble with the long words, and at one point my voice started to go and my legs went numb (I accidentally chanted chapter 2 as well). So at the end I had chanted the text it, but had not understood very much, even though I know the 'story'. Therefore, I thought it would be a good idea to study the text and translation again. Then I got the idea that it would be a great help if I translated the English text. So I started doing that. But then I thought it would be better to add the transliteration so I could see the Sanskrit words. And now I have been working at it all day, and reached page 22, so I guess I won't be finishing this job this Navaratri. But I am going to finish it: even if I do only one page a day, it will be finished next year! Anyway, I am enjoying it all very much and learning, and tonight I am going to read today's English text once more, as well as the text for tomorrow. In today's text there was one part I found achingly beautiful, especially due to Shree Maa's chanting: the athargala stotram. Only one question so far (apart from the 'code' mentioned which is quite beyond me, but I'll leave that for now): what do the vertical bars mean? Thank you for your ongoing support and for your message on our behalf to Shree Maa and Swamiji, thank you and best wishes to all, with love, Henny 'Oh Goddess, Mother of the Universe, to the people who are devoted to you, you give inexpressible Peace and Delight.'
