I was wondering if our group members could share about the first time

they chanted the Chandi? What was it like?

Dear Nanda and All ~ this Navaratri is the first time I will have

chanted the Chandi. Previously, I have read it through 3 times. I

have to break up the chanting because of my health. But, I wanted to

tell everyone, how happy chanting the Chandi made me feel this

morning. First, it was like greeting an old and dear friend (perhaps

because of my previous reading). Second, and this totally amazed me,

I discoverd things I hadn't noticed before, things that directly

relate to my cirumstances and the difficulties with my mother. This

blew me away. I know when I was reading the Chandi, I always noticed

something new every time, so it is not surprising, but what is

surprising is how personal it felt.

As most of you know, each time there has been a sankalpa, I have

missed it because I haven't had the right book. This time I do, and I

am soooooo happy. Chandi Path was the first book I ever purchased, and

I got it when I saw Maa and Swami on their last tour. (Oh, please tell

me that, eventually they will come out of seclusion and tour again.) I

am so grateful and happy to be doing this along with the group. When I

was chanting, I was aware that somewhere someone or maybe more were

also chanting, and this added to the bhava of the experience. Jai Maa

so nice, linda. i read the text last night up to the part for today

but sadly when chanting the sanskrit could not make the connection of

meaning from what i read to what i was chanting. i will look forward

to having done it enough (chanted/read/whatever) to be able to have

awareness of how it affects my life and me personally. how wonderful

for you! i would say though that i enjoyed reading the english

translation last night and knowing what this 'mysterious' chandi path

was all about (at a basic level anyway). and when chanting some of the

mantras and repeat 11 times, etc., i think i really enjoyed the rhythm

and poetry and significance of those lines the most.

and oh yes! wouldn't that be wonderful if they did tour some more???

First time - 1992.

First time chanting from Swamiji's book with Maa and Swamiji - Dec 31

1994/Jan 1 1995.

Thanks to the Devi Mandir family and the Navratri Group sankalpa for

inspiration and support.

Dear Nanda,

Om Namah Shivayah!

First time I chanted the Chandi was in Devi Mandir at a homa that our

beloved Swamiji led (summer 2001?). This was our first time in Devi

Mandir. I was filled with awe as I watched Swamiji and some of the

other participants. Myself - I kept moving from a cross-legged pose

to vajrasana as my legs were paining.

I believe we chanted Rudri, Advanced Shiva Puja also over the next 2-

3 days. At the end of each sitting, Swamiji would lovingly affix the

ashes from the homa on our foreheads, chanting Tryayusham Jamadgni ..

from the Rudri (I loved that part!!)

Jai Maa! Jai Swamiji!

with love and prayers,

srini

Dear Jay

I was fortunate to have "found" the "Chandi" many years ago, but I'm

still struggling with my negativities, - more than most people I know.

Pranams to you
