Guest guest
>>"If you notice closely, you will find a photo of Swamiji's head held in one of Kali's hands. This is to symbolize the defeat of Chanda and Munda in Chapter 7 of the Chandi Path, where Kali Ma kills Passion and Anger, and gives their heads to Chandi Maa. This is why Kali is known as Chamunda - She who defeats Chanda and Munda. If you notice even more closely ( <grin> the picture is not THAT clear), you will find Kali Maa has a garland made up of photos of her devotees. I suppose all us of that wanted to get rid of our passion and anger gave a picture each and added it to Maa's garland. (Mine is there too"<< Dear Latha, Thank you SO MUCH for posting this...what a GREAT idea!!! I love the photo garland. Just yesterday, I was putting a lime garland around the neck of Parvati in preparation for the Sri Chakra Puja at the Mahalakshmi Temple and thinking about garlands, garlands and Devi...I had been looking at the garland on Lord Hanuman, a mala of mantras on paper, folded and strung together as a devotional practice, then, when I put onParvati's lime garland, just musing about a garland of mantras and limes for Devi or SOMETHING.....I didn't know what...then, this morning, I turned on my computer and saw the garland of photographs and thought, "Oh yes!!!"..that's it! A garland of limes, photographs and mantras...just perfect!!! This is the most wonderful way to "offer" ourselves (literally)and our prayers in the form of mantra and, also, that Maa Kali cool off just a little bit with her lime garland before she begins her process of destroying our negativities...Being someone who is mostly fire, my tendency is to just leap right in and say, "Go for it, Maa Kali!!" The limes are my "safety net" as I get older and realize I need to be patient! thanks for the great photo, Sadhvi
