Guest guest
When you get this post, some of us would have already completed our day 2 sankalpas and some like would still have to get back to their altars. Today we are doing/have done "Durga Sapta Shloki and Chapters 2 & 3" from the Chandi Path. It was SOOO nice to hear from you all yesterday - Henny had said that it was the first chanting for her, along with the MP3 CD ? But I didnt understand the bit about the translation, cos it is already translated into English, lieve Henny - are you translating it to Dutch ? Oh, btw, the single vertical bar at the end of a shloka is equivalent to a comma and is called 'ardha matra' and the double bars are the equivalent to a full stop and called "matra". Keep going dear Henny and keep writing to let us know how your sankalpa is progressing. And yes I LOVE chanting the Athargala stotram too. Berijoy, too - first time for you. Kudos girl! And I know exactly what you mean - I took a vow and I gotta finish it , no matter what. THAT'S THE SPIRIT !!!!!! And we feel soooo great afterwards. I think thats one of things that sankalpas & sadhana inculcate in us - the feeling that we too can accomplish tasks that we set out to do. It is a very liberating feeling. Linda dear - I am sooo happy to know that you are feeling proud of yourself because you completed day 1 successfully. And also, I too take heart from the fact that someone somewhere is also doing the sankalpa as I am . Aravind - I know how it feels to encounter familiar passages. An oasis in a desert. And btw, that verse that you came up with "Jai Shree Maa Jai Swamiji Jai Amritanandamayi" while catchy and cute, is not anushtup - it has to have 32 syllables to the verse. But, if you keep at it , who knows what you will come up with Stevie --- you and me both - did our sankalpas late in the evening. I had been to the Mandir, and had chanting Seedha Chandi in the morning with the group there, and Guru Gita in the evening - both at the fire. And then of course some seva in between. So I got to do my group sankalpa at 11 pm last night. And I am going back after this post to do the sankalpa for today. Glad to know that Ardis and Kalachandra are enjoying the sankalpa. Ardis dear, if you can , it would be great if you keep us posted on your fast too. Chris - I hope that your honeymoon with the Goddess never ends. If you find any asuras interrupting the honeymoon, hope you will hand them over to her. I was wondering how our other friends were doing. Grace is probably on her third day of sankalpa . It will be great if every one can "touch base" to keep the momentum alive. Thank you again and again to Sankar for his posts on the Chandi. Thank you Srini for your inspiration. Rick, dear brother, thank you for sharing on your first Chandi. I remember reading out one of your posts to Shree Maa in 2003 and mentioning that you were trying to memorize and Maa was SOOO happy. In fact, at the Mandir, one of the things that Maa encourages is for her disciples and devotees to memorize pujas and mantras and passages from many books. This is another way of keeping our bhava alive. Dear Loving Maa, In my humble opinion , the fact that we do sadhana in private or in public - is just another embellishment to the ego. What *I* know for sure is that *DOING* the sadhana is important. Atleast , in my present stage of evolution that is how it seems to me. I wanted to share a tid bit from the Mandir. Usually I clean (with help from friends) the temple on Sundays. Normally, Swamiji finishes his 2.5 hour morning puja early , by 8 am or so, takes a break and comes back to chant the Chandi at 10 am. He then chants and expands his asan to be done by 1 pm. Yesterday, he started at 10.30 and chanted with samput and didnt get up until 4 , and I believe he wants to extend and expand as much as possible during Navaratri. When I peeked in the temple during his chanting, the vibrations were so thick that I was loath to disturb the atmosphere with something as mundane as cleaning. When I looked at him in the evening, he had such a quiet air, a look that said to me "I am not here , I am elsewhere" . And of course he is fasting too... Incredible Incredible Swamiji ! Well, off I post this , and onward to my sadhana for today. Jai Maa Nanda Mail Mobile Take Mail with you! Check email on your mobile phone. Guest guest
Dear Nanda, I finished the 3rd days sankalpa and because it was so short I added Chapter 5 which I love...this will also help with Saturday which is a day filled with family commitments. I hope it is ok that I add to the shorter days to shorten the chanting on the final morning. All is fine though because I am ahead of all I do feel out of sinq with the group. Such is life. Guest guest
Dear Grace, If you want to add to the shorter days, it might be better that you add the next chapter in sequence. You are our torch bearer , setting the tone for all of us. I think you or is it Jay that is most ahead of us? I just finished my second day sankalpa and killed all the Asuras in chapter 2 and the EGO in chapter 3 - Hope they NEVER come back <grin> Jai Maa Nanda , Grace Green <gmgreen108@w...> wrote: > Dear Nanda, > I finished the 3rd days sankalpa and because it was so short I added > Chapter 5 which I love...this will also help with Saturday which is a > day filled with family commitments. Guest guest
Nanda, Of course I added the next chapter. Chapter 5 came after day 3 's chapter 4. I was more than a day ahead of you because I chant in the morning and you are doing the group sankalpa in the evening. I guess you missed my comments on the first day or rather was so shaktied out from all that is going on that you thought I had not written...but if you check the mail you will see that I did respond. I am glad your ego was slain .. mine is not only risen again but is blowing the winds all out of proportion. Take care Grace 12/04/2005, at 12:44 PM, Nanda wrote: > > > Dear Grace, > If you want to add to the shorter days, it might be better that you > add the next chapter in sequence. > > You are our torch bearer , setting the tone for all of us.
