Dear friends,

by the grace of God and Guru I have completed chanting chapters 2, 3

and 4. Yesterday's chanting went quite well, I did it without the cd

but somehow I found the rhythm and had no big problems (apart from the

ordinary ones with long words and difficult letters etc.) Reading

without support meant that I could read slower and read the

translation as well, so I could actually understand what I read. When

I got to the part where the Goddess says: "roar and roar, you fool",

my hair was standing on end! Very powerful stuff!

So today I thought I would chant without the cd again, but got

hopelessly stuck in the verses, could not find the rhythm and did not

understand a word. Somewhat humbled by the experience, I got out the

cd and listened, and then read the translation. I never thought I

would love the Chandi Path so much. What has touched me about today's

part in particular is that our Divine Mother does not reduce all

thoughts to ashes with one glance, but wants them all to be purified

and raised to the higher worlds. Even those aspects of us we

personally value the least, perhaps, may be transformed and made to

shine..

This Navaratri is truly an amazing experience, and we have four more

days to go! It colours my whole day, literally, because to remind me

of Her I am wearing a red scarf this week. I don't know if that's the

appropriate colour, but it makes me remember the One Energy that fills

the worlds.

Thank you all very much for sharing your experiences: it is very

wonderful to know that we are all doing this together.

Thank you, dear friends, who have been chanting the Chandi for a long

time, for your encouragement and for not making the beginners feel

inadequate.

Thank you, Nanda, for your glimpse of life at the Devi Mandir at this

time and for your selfless service in keeping us posted.

I bow to the Goddess who is the energy of intelligence by which the

essence of all scriptures is understood,

with love,

Henny
